DEEPENING THE SENSES – A JOURNEY INWARD

To be sensual, is to respect and rejoice in the force of life, of life itself, and to be present in all that one does, from the effort of loving to the breaking of bread. – James Baldwin.

Conscious femininty is aware of the energy in rock, bird, tree, sunset.  Aware of living in world..soul. The body is attuned, concentrated, alive, open, receptive, alert, aware, in the marrow of the harmony of the universe.  – MARION WOODMAN

You are invited to join us in a workshop retreat in the beautiful heartland of the Burren in Co. Clare. An ancient landscape steeped in myth and history.

During our ‘Deepening The Senses’ retreat we explore the world of the senses – awakening a more grounded authentic connectedness to ourselves and bringing conscious awareness in our bodies to our presence in the world.  Through the realm of myth and archetypes we will deepen into the senses, drawing on our connection to the wisdom of the ancient landscape around us, attuning to our own inner journeying, appreciating in our subtle bodies the richness of the present moment in our lives.

When we listen to myths, if we let ourselves step into their world of poetry and imagination, we step out of the rational concrete patriarchal world of our time and into the symbolic life. In this way we become receptive to our inner environment, and the energies of life and the archetypal patterns living through us.

During the retreat we will spend time indoors and outdoors exploring that sensory embodied connection. We will also be utilising the medium of poetry and images, gentle mindful movements, art, meditation, active imagination and dream imaging to assist us. The two days will provide nurturing space with time to let go of everyday commitments and attune to ourselves.

There will be free time to walk, relax, rest and enjoy the surrounding countryside. An outdoor hot tub is on site and you can arrange an optional massage should you wish to do so in your free time.  You will enjoy good nourishing food and on our last evening after our féasta (n. celtic feast) we will gather at the hearth for the ancient tradition of our ancestors – sharing  songs, music, story telling and conversations. We aim to create a warm atmosphere where we will awaken the senses, deepen our understanding of ourselves and explore the sensual in our everyday lives.

Prior experience of body work and personal therapy work, whilst desirable, is not essential.
