If you listen to the wisdom of your body, love this flesh and bone, dedicate yourself it its mystery, you may one day find yourself smiling from our mirror – Marion Woodman
To be sensual is to respect and rejoice in the force of life, of life itself, and to be present in all that one does, from the effort of living to the breaking of bread – James Baldwin
You are invited to join me on September 8th 2018 for the popular ‘Deepening the Senses – A journey Inward- Day Retreat in the beautiful Sanctuary Retreat Centre in Clarinbridge, Galway.
During our ‘Deepening The Senses’ Retreat we explore the world of the senses – awakening a more grounded authentic connectedness to ourselves and bringing conscious awareness in our bodies to our presence in the world. Through the realm of myth and archetypes we will deepen into the senses, drawing on our connection to the wisdom of the landscape around us, attuning to our own inner journeying, appreciating in our subtle bodies the richness of the present moment in our lives.
When we listen to myths, if we let ourselves step into their world of poetry and imagination, we step out of the rational concrete patriarchal world of our time and into the symbolic life. In this way we become receptive to our inner environment, and the energies of life and the archetypal patterns living through us.
During the retreat we will spend time indoors and outdoors exploring that sensory embodied connection. We will also be utilising the medium of poetry and images, gentle mindful movements, art, meditation, and dream imaging, exploring the language of our dreams and their symbols in our psyches to assist us. This day Retreat will provide a nurturing space with time to let go of everyday commitments and attune to ourselves.
There will be some free time to spend in the beautiful sensory garden at the centre or rest in the sanctuary itself by the log fire. It is a day of connection to the self, for deeper nourishment and enjoyment in a beautiful tranquil setting.
A nourishing two course lunch (a hot dinner and dessert) as well as mid morning home baked scones, tea and coffee will be provided. This retreat aims to create a warm atmosphere where we will awaken the senses, deepen our understanding of ourselves and explore the sensual in our everyday lives.
Prior experience of body work and personal therapy work, whilst desirable, is not essential.

The psyches and souls of women also have their own cycles and seasons of doing and solitude, running and staying, being involved and being removed, questing and resting, creating and incubating, being of the world and returning to the soul place

Your soul knows the geography of your destiny your soul alone has the map of your future, therefore you can trust the indirect, oblique side of yourself. If you do, it will take you where you need to go,but more important, it will teach you a kindness of rhythm in your journey – John O’Donoghue
