Deepening the Senses – ‘A Journey Inward’ online morning workshop 12th September 2020

Dee Nickerson – Windfalls

‘If we fail to nourish our souls, they wither, and without soul, life ceases to have meaning. The creative process shrivels in the absence of continual dialogue with the soul. And creativity is what makes life worth living’ – Marion Woodman

‘If we give ourselves half an hour a day, with our creativity, our dreams, our music, the soul becomes quiet. We are in our body and we feel nourished’ – Marion Woodman

You are invited to join me for a morning’s online workshop – Deepening the Senses ‘A Journey Inward’ this September 12th 2020. During our ‘Deepening The Senses’ morning together, we will deepen into the world of the senses – awakening a more grounded authentic connectedness to ourselves and bringing conscious awareness in our bodies to our presence in the world.

This year has seen many changes in our lives. We have all at times felt anxious, stressed and sometimes frightened too. This morning’s workshop will be space where we will create a time for reflection, to connect and reconnect in an embodied way to our inner ground and to hear with that inner ear, what meaning we can glean from these challenging times for our own journey. What gifts such dark times can also bring to our lives.

In this workshop, I will incorporate some aspects from the popular Deepening the Senses Retreats, as well as a talk on the ‘Journey inward’, – drawing on a variety of perspectives and thought from the field of Psychology, Mythology, Psychotherapy, Philosophy, literature and art utilizing images from art and poetry in a way that aims to be accessible and thought-provoking, to inspire you and support you on your own path.

By learning to attune more deeply to the senses, we connect to the aliveness in our bodies and the wisdom that is held within. So often in our lives, for many reasons, we listen more to our thoughts than we do to our embodied selves.  When we connect inward we learn how to support ourselves more fully in our lives. When we listen to myths, if we let ourselves step into their world of poetry and imagination, we step out of the rational concrete patriarchal world of our time and into the symbolic life. In this way we become receptive to our inner environment, and the energies of life and the archetypal patterns living through us.

During the morning workshop, we will utilize mindful meditation, the medium of myth, poetry and images, as well as exploring the thoughts and ideas from philosophy and literature, to deepen our understanding of ourselves. It aims to be a nurturing online space with time to let go of everyday commitments and attune to ourselves.

to live the life that i would love,
to postpone my dream no longer
but do at last what i came here for
and waste my heart on fear no more’
