“The psyches and souls of women also have their own cycles and seasons of doing and solitude, running and staying, being involved and being removed, questing and resting, creating and incubating, being of the world and returning to the soul place” – Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estes

You are invited to join me for Deepening the Senses ‘The Cailleach’s Descent’ – A Evening’s Zoom Gathering on Saturday 29th October 2022. This facilitates international friends to also join us.
Samhain marks the beginning of the darkest part of the year, the beginning of Winter. In the Celtic tradition, at Samhain, the Cailleach, the old hag or the wise crone of winter, leaves the mountains and begins her walk across the lands bringing the winter storms, snow and darkness with her. It is the time of the year where she makes her descent into the underworld to incubate the seeds of the new life. Darkness is associated with new beginnings. The potential of the seed below the ground. These are liminal, threshold times in the changing seasons of our lives. This evening’s gathering is a space where we can create the time for reflection, to connect and reconnect in an embodied way to our inner ground and to hear with the inner ear, what meaning we can glean from these challenging times on our own journey. What seeds will we sow in the darkness this Samhain and what will we bring forth into the Spring and the new life.
On our evening’s Gathering, we will journey inward, attuning to the stirring in our own inner world, connecting to our place in the cycle of the seasons, listening to the ancient wisdom that is held within. We will draw on the wisdom of mythology, utilizing mindfulness meditation, the medium of poetry, music and imagery to assist is. There will be a presentation that draws on understandings from psychotherapy, philosophy, literature and poetry using images and music that evoke and stir the senses and imagination. We will also have an opportunity to work with dream images, hearing from participants what images and dreams are stirring for them at this threshold time.
When we listen to myths, if we let ourselves step into their world of poetry and imagination, we step out of the rational concrete patriarchal world of our time and into the symbolic life. In this way we become receptive to our inner environment, and the energies of life and the archetypal patterns living through us. This morning aims to provide a nurturing online space with time to let go of everyday commitments and attune to ourselves.
Prior experience of body work and personal therapy work, whilst desirable, is not essential.
