An Invitation

Ceo is the Irish word for mist. In Irish mythology, the Tuatha Dé Danann—the supernatural people of Ireland—arrived to the shores of Ireland shrouded in mist and fog. Manannán Mac Lir, king of the Otherworld, was said to conjure a magical mist that hid them from human sight.

Carl Jung’s concept of Individuation is the unfolding path toward wholeness, authenticity, and the deeper Self. Early on this path of Individuation, we meet the shadow — the hidden, unconscious parts of ourselves that were cast out, exiled, or forgotten in order to fit in. Together, we’ll explore how the shadow is shaped in childhood, how it carries the imprint of family and ancestral story, and how turning toward it with compassion and curiosity becomes a gateway to greater depth, freedom, and inner truth.

Rooted in Irish Myth & Ancestral Memory

The Gaelic Otherworld was a realm beyond linear time. It was a parallel world that was inhabited by the Aos Sí, otherwise known as the faeries. For our ancestors, the Otherworld was not separate—it existed alongside the human world — shaping the psyche, the imagination, and the rhythms of their daily lives.

In this course, we explore the realm of the sídhe, also known as Tír na nÓg—the land of eternal youth—hearing stories of crossings, sacred wells and faery encounters. These are not simply old tales. From a Jungian depth psychology perspective they can be seen as a symbolic gateway into our own unseen world, an opportunity to explore the hidden depths of our own psyche, and the echoes of ancestral memory carried within us.

The Heart of This Course

Embarking on the Mist-Filled Path explores Carl Jung’s concept of individuation — the unfolding path toward wholeness, authenticity, and the deeper Self. Early on this psychological path, we meet the shadow — the hidden, unconscious parts of ourselves that were cast out, exiled, or forgotten, shrouded in a metaphorical mist. This course explores how shadow is shaped in childhood, and how it carries the imprint of family and ancestral story.

Guided by myth and the Imram—the ancient celtic voyage to unknown shores—we enter the symbolic landscape of the soul. Here, we move beyond linear time into sacred time where transformation unfolds. This course is a visceral, sensory experience with sweeping footage of Ireland, symbolic imagery, the Irish language, poetry, music, folklore and myth, woven together to awaken imagination, stir memory, and deepen awareness. It is a journey of remembering—reclaiming what was lost, honoring what was hidden and exiled, and stepping into a more authentic, soul-aligned life.

Join Eileen Ní Shuilleabháin on this mythic, mysterious, mist-filled path. Together, we will explore, through the work of Psychotherapy, Depth Psychology, Irish Mythology and Folklore, how we can begin to bridge connections to our own inner world and soul self.

  • Individuation
How the Jungian journey toward wholeness is a process of reclaiming and integrating exiled parts of the self..

  • The Jungian Concept of Shadow — How this is about meeting and integrating the unconscious and disowned aspects of ourselves.

  • Ancestral Stories and Intergenerational Trauma —how exploring intergenerational trauma and gently releasing what no longer serves.

  • Sacred Time and the Rhythm of the Soul — how to reconnect with the deeper rhythms of ritual and the soul beyond linear time.

  • Imagination, Psyche, and Meaning — how dreams, symbols, and metaphor guide inner transformation.

  • The Numinous and Sacred Encounter — encounters with mystery and awe as gateways to healing and change.

  • Reconnecting with Ancestral Roots— reconnecting with lineage, language, and the Irish landscape as sources of meaning and belonging.

You are invited to meet these themes gently, allowing insight to arise in its own time.

About

Eileen Ní Shuilleabháin

BSocSc, MA Social Work, MA Psychotherapy, Dip Supervision, Dip Jungian Psychology, Certified Coach (WCI)

I am a Psychotherapist, Educator and Folklorist with over 20 years of experience. I work internationally and am dual-located in the US and Ireland (in Northern Nevada and on the West Coast of Ireland, in Connemara). I work from a Jungian and depth-oriented perspective, integrating Jungian Psychology, Psychodynamic and somatic therapies.

I grew up in Connemara, a wild and rugged landscape on the Atlantic coast of Ireland. Oscar Wilde famously said of the region, “Connemara is a savage beauty”. I grew up in a small, rural Gaeilge (Irish) speaking community where Gaeilge is my first language, and is still spoken today in people's homes. This area was a major centre for the work of the Irish Folklore Commission, recording endangered folklore, mythology, sean-nós (old-style) songs, and oral literature. I have been greatly influenced by the wild physical landscape and immersed in those ancient songs, stories, customs, myths, legends, and music since childhood.

My work interweaves the Gaelic (Irish) World and Otherworld with Jungian Depth Psychology. In this work, this ancient heritage becomes a doorway through which you can enter and explore your own inner landscape. I desire to share with you a felt sense of that culture and spirit and, as a Psychotherapist, support how that connection can nourish and guide you on your personal development journey.

It was in the mist the Tuatha de Danann, the people of the gods of Dana, or as some people called them, the Men of Dea, came through the air and the high air to Ireland.
