Eileen’s Approach to Supervision and Reflective Practice

I support you in becoming curious about your client's world through the facilitated exploration of your embodied, somatic, inner, intuitive world experience.

What images are arising in the collective space between you and your client?
What images are arising for me as a supervisor in the session or for us in the Reflective group?
How might these images be a lens into the inner world of your client, into ourselves and both?

We explore how cultivating and building this intuitive Depth Work muscle can support you in your therapeutic, professional practice and personal life. I offer insight into handling complex cases, ethical dilemmas, and the subtleties of therapeutic relationships. When we explore the conscious and unconscious reactions in our embodied selves, it is a very rich source of wisdom, insight and creative attunement to our client. In this facilitated forum, I focus on creating a dynamic, interactive and curious space where the participant(s) can bring their intuitive selves to the fore.

I focus on how you can access and build your own intuitive inner wisdom as a skill and an art to support you to continue to grow and develop as a practitioner. I cultivate a space free from judgment that supports exploration and curiosity. This work draws on my 20 years of clinical knowledge and experience. I also interweave insights and perspectives from Depth Psychology and Psychological theories and insights from literature, Irish mythology, art, and folklore to enhance exploration and deepen the work. It is a space that aims to reignite and re-invigorate your artistic expression as a therapist, cultivating your professional, instinctual, passionate, unique therapeutic voice to support you and build on your expression in this specialist field of work.

Eileen’s Clinical and Supervisory Experience

My clinical background and training are in the following Psychotherapy modalities:   Gestalt and Somatic Psychotherapy, Existential, Psychodynamic and Jungian Depth Work Psychology. I have a Degree in Social Science, a Masters in Social Work, a Masters in Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy, a Masters in Irish Mythology and Folklore, a Diploma in Jungian Psychology, and a Diploma in Advanced Reflexive Supervision, and I am a certified Wellness Coach in the United States. I interweave all these approaches, amongst other training gleaned over the years, to inform my Reflective Supervision Practice. I am an accredited Psychotherapist with the Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and the Irish Association of Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy.

I have worked in Private Psychotherapy practice for 14 years. I worked in Adult Psychiatry for over 20 years as a Mental Health Social Worker, dual qualified Psychotherapist, and as a Mental Health Social Work Department Manager for six years. This was both in acute and continuing care mental health settings, where clinical group and individual supervision was provided to practitioners. I provided consultation on the National Development of Mental Health Services in Ireland between 2016 and 2022 in the following specialist clinical areas:

  • Specialist Perinatal Mental Health Services,

  • Talk Therapies

  • Self Harm Presentations in Emergency Departments.

I was involved in setting up and implementing a Specialist Mental Health Homeless service in Galway on the west coast of Ireland between 2017 - 2022. This service went on to win a National Health Service Executive award in Ireland in the Recognition of staff achievement.

I am passionate about supporting practitioners to discover their own therapeutic voice and identity, to become successful ‘good enough’ therapists.

In my view, this means not only mastering your approach in terms of technique, skill, theory and clinical discernment but also, at its heart, discovering and rediscovering your passion, artistic and creative soul self in your work so you can support your clients to do the same, in their own lives.

We unearth core belief systems and unconscious patterns that may also inhibit your own development and growth. What stories do you tell yourself unconsciously that hinder or nourish you? In an integrative, embodied way, we explore together how to process those long-held limiting belief systems so you can feel more resourced and empowered, creating a stronger sense of internal anchor and rootedness to meet your life in greater connection and not so cut off from your authentic soul self.

This Reflective Practice space is for you if:

  • You are interested in developing a Depth Work perspective in your practice

  • You are curious about how to deepen your approach to your work

  • You are interested in creative ways of working therapeutically

  • You are passionate about your practice and want to bring a new spark and new creativity to your work

  • You are open to learning and having a dynamic creative experience with like-minded practitioners.

Self Care and Group Support

Creating space for yourself in this challenging work is essential to step back and get a broader overview and perspective of the unfolding dynamics. Doing this supports your well-being and prevents compassion fatigue, which is common in this work. Practitioners in practice can often feel isolated, too, so this group space is an opportunity to share ideas and experiences with one another, and this helps us feel less alone in the daily challenges of practice.
