Deepening the Senses ‘A Journey Inward’ Lúnasa Full Day Retreat – August 10th, 2019
I am delighted to invite you once again to the beautiful Sccul Sanctuary in Clarinbridge Co Galway to celebrate Lúnasa.
During our ‘Deepening the Senses’ Retreats we explore the world of the senses - connecting to the archetypal energy of the feminine – awakening a more grounded authentic connectedness to ourselves, bringing conscious awareness in our bodies to our presence in the world. In ancient times Lúnasa was the time to harvest, a time to give thanks in ritual for the bounty of the land, and to ask the gods’ blessings that the weather will hold long enough to gather the harvest. On this day we will celebrate the harvest in our own lives, taking the time to listen to the mythology surrounding Lúnasa and the wisdom of these ancient stories.
When we listen to myths, if we let ourselves step into their world of poetry and imagination, we step out of the rational concrete patriarchal world of our time and into the symbolic life. In this way, we become receptive to our inner environment, the energies of life, and the creative energy of the feminine that calls us.
During the Retreat, we will spend time indoors and outdoors exploring that sensory-embodied connection to the landscape around us. We will use the medium of poetry, mythology and imagery, gentle mindful movement, art, meditation, and dream imaging, exploring the language of our dreams and their symbols in our psyches to assist us. This day retreat will provide a nurturing space with time to let go of everyday commitments and attune to ourselves.
